Former Open Championship Winner Paul Lawrie Signs Endorsement Deal with RSM

The 1999 Open Championship winner, Paul Lawrie, remains a popular name in sports in the U.K.  He has recently agreed to a deal to become a brand ambassador the audit, tax and consulting firm RSM. 

They agreed to a three-year deal with Lawrie.  He will wear the RSM logo on his shirts at tournaments and also appear at various corporate events. 

Lawrie has had a lengthy partnership already with RSM through his Paul Lawrie Golf Centre.  The company boasts four offices in his native Scotland.  

Lawrie's triumph at the 1999 Open was most memorable.  He won a four-hole playoff over Justin Leonard and Jean van del Velde, despite not leading the tournament at any point in regulation. 

In fact, Lawrie faced a ten shot deficit to the leader van de Velde entering the final round of play.  His victory would catipult him to golf prominence and he had three top ten finishes on the European Tour's Order of Merit in the four years after the win. 

Overall, Lawrie has won eight times on the European Tour and boasts 13 professional wins total.  His first European Tour victory came at the 1996 Catalan Open.  

Lawrie has played for Team Europe in two Ryder Cups.  This fall, he will serve as vice captain for Europe's Ryder Cup squad.
