Former NFL Wide Receiver Phil McConkey Speaks at Touchdown Club of Annapolis Football Awards Banquet

Former NFL wide receiver Phil McConkey is one of the greatest players in Naval Academy football history. That makes him the ideal choice to serve as speaker at the Touchdown Club of Annapolis football awards banquet.

The 64th annual event will take place on February 15th at the DoubleTree Hotel. There are a limited number of tickets still available for $70.

McConkey previously attended the banquet in 1979 to receive the Silver Helmet Award. That honor is presented annually to Navy's most outstanding player.

McConkey set records for kickoff return yards, punt return yards and total touchdowns at Navy. He was also the MVP of his final college game, the 1978 Holiday Bowl.

After fulfilling his four--year service requirement, McConkey went on to pursue an NFL career. He signed with the New York Giants and spent parts of five seasons with the franchise.

McConkey was particularly valuable in Super Bowl XXI, going for 50 receiving yards, 25 punt return yards and a touchdown in the Giants victory. He retired in 1989 and serves as the president of Academy Securities.
