Former NFL Running Back Merril Hoge Speaks at the Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame Induction Next Year

The Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame induction banquet is returning this June. Former NFL running Merril Hoge is going to be the guest speaker. 

The event takes place on June 4th at 6 p.m. and individual tickets are currently $135. The Hall of Fame is celebrating their 20th year of operation. 

In addition to speaking, Hoge is receiving the Distinguished American Award. There will also be a drawing for $500, $1,000 and $2,500 cash prizes. 

Hoge played in the NFL for eight seasons and spent seven of those with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the team's starting running back for six years and collected 5,272 total yards in his career. 

Hoge played in 122 consecutive games before retiring after one final season with the Chicago Bears in 1995. He joined ESPN and has become one of their most popular football commentators. 

In 2003, Hoge beat non-Hodgkin lymphoma and he has since been active in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He is also active in promoting concussion research and is a member of the USA Football board of directors.
