Former NFL Running Back Merril Hoge Keynotes SoutheastHEALTH Foundation Journey Gala

Merril Hoge's post-football career as a broadcaster honed his tremendous natural speaking talents. His battle with cancer gave him a cause to passionately speak about.

This past Saturday, Hoge was the keynote speaker at the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation Journey Gala at the Drury Plaza Conference Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There were over 400 people on hand and the event raised nearly $175,000 for the hospital.

Proceeds will go towards costs associated with transportation and lodging for patients families. Hoge shared stories from his own battle with lymphoma.

Hoge played eight NFL seasons, seven of them with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had success as a fullback with the Steelers and gained over 600 yards on the ground in four straight seasons.

Hoge spent the 1994 season with the Chicago Bears before retiring. Hoge signed on as an analyst for ESPN in 1996 and appeared on a variety of studio shows through 2017.

Hoge recently became a head coach of a team in a new football venture called Your Call Football. He continues traveling the country speaking to audiences, imploring them to "Find A Way."
