Former NFL Quarterback Chad Pennington Keynotes YMCA Scholarship Dinner Next Month

Chad Pennington had a successful NFL career, but he is a legend at Marshall University. He is sure to receive a warm welcome as the keynote speaker at the Huntington YMCA annual scholarship dinner.

The "Just For Kids" dinner takes place on November 6th at 6 p.m. at the St. Mary's Conference Center. Pennington has been active with the YMCA chapter through his 1st and 10 Foundation.

In addition to his presentation, there will also be a presentation of multiple service awards. Proceeds raised from the event will go towards providing programs and memberships to underprivileged youth, seniors and people with disabilities.

Pennington led the Thundering Herd to the I-AA National Championship Game in 1995. He started three more seasons at the school and helped them transition to Division I-A.

As a senior, Pennington led Marshall to an undefeated season at the Mid-American Conference Championship. The New York Jets selected him in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft and he spent his first eight seasons with the team.

After an injury to his shoulder, Pennington bounced back in 2006 to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award. He won the same honor with the Miami Dolphins after leading them to the playoffs in 2010.
