Former NBA Player Dell Curry Keynotes Boys & Girls Club Dinner Next Month

Former NBA player Dell Curry may be better known now as the father of two-time league MVP Stephen Curry. However, many in the state of North Carolina still remember the elder Curry for his exploits on the basketball court.

Next month, he will serve as the keynote speaker at The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem's Boys & Girls Club Dinner. The event takes place on August 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Winston-Salem.

Individual tickets are $100 and a table of eight is $1,000. There are also a variety of sponsorship packages that range in price from $5,000-$25,000.

Curry played 16 NBA seasons, but it is his ten-year tenure with the Charlotte Hornets that most sticks out. He remains the franchise's all-time leading scorer and career leader in three-pointers made.

The Utah Jazz originally selected Curry in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft and two years later he was picked up by the Hornets in the expansion draft. In 1994, Curry was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year.

Curry still works with Charlotte as a color commentator on the team's television broadcasts. He is also arguably the greatest player in Virginia Tech basketball history and has his #30 jersey retired by the school.
