Michigan native and former Major League pitcher Frank Tanana is lending his time to an in-state program. He has been named speaker for Michigan State baseball's 13th Annual First Pitch Dinner. 

The event takes place on February 4th at the Kellogg Center at 12 p.m. A silent auction and player autographs with the 2018 Spartans will be available before the formal program and dinner at 1 p.m. 

Individual tickets are $50. Tickets for MSU baseball alumni are $40, $25 for college students and $15 for children and students. 

The California Angels selected Tanana in the first round of the 1971 MLB Draft. He went on to a 21-year career with six different teams after debuting with the Angels in 1973. 

Tanana won 240 games, recorded over 2,700 strikeouts and retired with a 3.66 ERA. He was a three-time American League All-Star from 1876-78. 

Tanana led baseball in strikeouts in 1974 and the AL in ERA in 1977. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame.
