Former College Football Coach Jim Grobe Speaks at Hospice of Huntington Fundraiser Thursday

The Hospice of Huntington is bringing in a native son to speak at their upcoming fundraiser. Former college football coach Jim Grobe will do the honors for their "Putting Heart in the Game" event Thursday.

Festivities take place at the St. Mary's Medical Center for Education Conference Center. There will be a meet and greet with Grobe at 5:30 p.m. followed by the 6 p.m. dinner.

Grobe spent the 2016 season as the head coach at Baylor University and guided them to a 7-6 record. He is best known for his tenure at Wake Forest from 2001-13.

Grobe's career is highlighted by the 2006 season when the Demon Deacons went 11-3 and won the Atlantic Coast Conference. He was named ACC Coach of the Year, Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year and the AP College Football Coach of the Year.

Grobe's first head coaching opportunity came at Ohio, where he was Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 1996. He had a stint in his hometown coaching linebackers at Marshall University from 1979-83.
