Former College Basketball Coach Mike Jarvis Keynotes Take Stock in Children Leadership Prayer Breakfast

Last month, former college basketball coach Mike Jarvis provided some words of inspiration to an important non-profit. He was the keynote speaker at the Take Stock in Children Leadership Prayer Breakfast. 

The 11th annual event was held at 7:30 a.m. on January 25th at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Florida. Take Stock in Children guides area at-risk students from early in their high school careers. 

They have handed out 498 college scholarships since 1996. They have an annual goal at the breakfast of raising $150,000 for new scholarships. 

Jarvis most recently served as the head coach at FAU from 2008-14. He has 364 career coaching victories and is one of just four men to win at least 100 games at three different schools. 

Jarvis guided St. John's to three NCAA Tournaments and a trip to the Elite Eight in his six years on the job. He coached George Washington to four NCAA Tournaments. 

Jarvis began his head coaching career at Boston University and the Terriers won the American East Conference Tournament twice. He gained experience in the profession as an assistant at Northeastern and Harvard.
