Former Boston Red Sox Standout Trot Nixon Speaks at Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame Luncheon March 10th

The Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame is bringing in one of the most famous athletes from the area to speak at a luncheon. Former Boston Red Sox star Trot Nixon will be in attendance.

The event takes place on March 10th at 11:30 a.m. at the City Club. Tickets include a meal and cost $40.

In 2012, Nixon was inducted into the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. At the luncheon, he will share some stories from his career and talk about what he is up to now.

Nixon was a North Carolina state player of the year in both baseball and football as a senior in high school. He was the Baseball America High School Player of the Year as well.

The Red Sox originally selected Nixon with the seventh overall pick in the 1993 MLB Draft. He spent 12 seasons in the big leagues, ten of those in Boston.

Nixon debuted for Boston in 1996 and played his first full major league season in 1999. In 2004, he helped the Red Sox win their first World Series in 1986.
