Former Auburn Football Coach Pat Dye Keynotes Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting

The Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce has a penchant for inviting legendary coaches to speak. They were at it again on Wednesday, bringing in former Auburn football coach Pat Dye to keynote their 127th annual meeting.

Dye went unscripted and told the audience he had no speaking notes. He talked about some of his personal characteristics that led to his success.

Dye also shared several fun stories from his coaching career. He followed in the steps of legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, who spoke last year.

Dye was the head coach at Auburn for 12 seasons from 1981-92. The Tigers won four Southeastern Conference titles and racked up a 7-2-1 record in bowl games under his watch.

On three occasions, Dye was named SEC Coach of the Year. In addition to being the Auburn coach, he also served as athletic director at the school from 1981-91.

Dye also had head coaching stints at East Carolina and Wyoming. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and is still a special assistant to the Auburn president.
