Former All-Star A.J. Pierzynski Speaks at University of St. Francis’ Brown & Gold Night in November

The University of St. Francis is hosting their annual Brown & Gold Night on November 8th. With the campus location being in Joliet, Illinois, many former speakers have been Chicago sports personalities.

This year is no exception with former Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski coming in to speak. Some of the former speakers have included Frank Thomas, David Ross and Jim McMahon.

A cash bar opens the festivities at the Pat Sullivan Center at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the program at 8 p.m. Individual tickets are available for $60 and a table of ten is $600.

Pierzynski originally came up with the Minnesota Twins in 1998 and made his first All-Star squad in 2002. He had his greatest success with the White Sox from 2005-12.

Pierzynski helped the franchise win the World Series in his first season and was named an All-Star again in 2006. He arguably had his greatest offensive season in 2012, when he hit 27 home runs with 77 RBI and a .278 batting average on the way to winning the Silver Slugger Award.

Pierzynski went on to play for four other franchises and became the tenth catcher to record over 2,000 hits in his career. He began a career as a television analyst while he was still playing and is currently full-time with Fox Sports.
