Florida State Names Legendary College Baseball Coach Mike Martin Summer Commencement Speaker

The impact that baseball coach Mike Martin has left on Florida State University is undeniable. He is going to be well-received as the school's summer commencement speaker. 

Martin will address graduates at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The ceremony will be streamed online. 

There will be 1,662 students who receive bachelor's degrees, 680 to get master's degrees and 153 who receive doctorates. FSU expects around 1,500 graduates to participate in commencement. 

Martin has been the Seminoles head coach for 38 seasons and ranks second in college baseball history with 1,944 wins. FSU has made a NCAA Regional each year of his tenure. 

Martin has led the Seminoles to the College World Series 16 times and 18 conference championships. He has been Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year seven times. 

188 of Martin's players have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
