One of America's most respected sportswriters is coming to Emmanuel College this spring. ESPN personality Jackie MacMullan is the school's commencement speaker. 

Their 96th commencement takes place on May 12th. In addition to speaking, MacMullan will also receive an honorary degree. 

She will share some of the triumphs and obstacles she has faced being a female in a male-dominated industry. Emmanuel's Class of 2018 should gain great inspiration as they head off into the world. 

In addition to writing for ESPN.com, MacMullan is a regular on the ESPN show, Around the Horn. She was a columnist and editor at The Boston Globe for over 25 years. 

MacMullan is the only woman to receive the Curt Gowdy Award from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. She has also won several national awards from the Associated Press. 

MacMullan is the author of a New York Times bestselling book with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. In 2001, she was inducted into the University of New Hampshire Hall of Honor.
