Diocese of Sioux City Names Creighton Basketball Coach Greg McDermott Keynote Speaker for Bishop’s Dinner

Fresh off another successful season, Creighton basketball coach Greg McDermott has a new speaking engagement to announce. The Diocese of Sioux City is welcoming him as their keynote speaker at the 21st Annual Bishop's Dinner.

Dinner takes place on October 1st at the Sioux City Convention Center. Tickets officially go on sale on August 14th.

The event stands as the largest fundraiser for the 16 Catholic school systems that make up the northwest Iowa diocese. Last year's event featuring Al Roker raised over $200,000.

McDermott has been the head coach at Creighton at 2010 and the Bluejays have made four trips to the NCAA Tournament in that span. This season, they went 25-10 and tied for third in the Big East Conference.

Prior to joining the Big East, McDermott led Creighton to a Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and two tournament championships.

McDermott previously was a head coach at Iowa State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and Wayne State. Following his playing career at Northern Iowa, he served as an assistant coach at the school for five seasons.
