Racing Legend Set to Deliver Address Benefitting East Tennessee Area Residents
NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 19th annual Athens Area Chamber of Commerce benefit taking place July 16, 2026, in McMinn County, Tennessee.
His upcoming appearance has already been met with feverish interest and support for the Chamber’s overall mission of providing local area businesses valuable tools and services to fuel their success.
“It’s just blown up,” Rob Preston, chamber CEO, said of interest following the announcement. “I think it’s about 174,000 views. I don’t know what that means, but it’s a big number.” “He’s just such a quality person, and he’s obviously got a huge fan base,” Preston said. “He’s obviously had a great career, but he’s also a wonderful person. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this guy.”

Son of legendary racer Dale Earnhardt Sr., Earnhardt Jr. has carried a storied legacy in stock car racing. Competing primarily in the NASCAR Cup Series, he drove for Hendrick Motorsports and his own JR Motorsports, amassing 26 Cup Series wins, including two Daytona 500 victories (2004, 2014). Known for his aggressive driving style and fan-friendly persona, he was voted NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver for 15 consecutive years (2003–2017). After retiring from full-time racing in 2017, he transitioned to broadcasting, working as an analyst for NBC Sports.
