Creighton Basketball Coach Greg McDermott Speaks at Annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools in October

Creighton men's basketball coach Greg McDermott coaches at one of the top Jesuit schools in the country. In October, he will be speaking at the 21st Annual Bishop's Dinner for Catholic Schools.

The event will be held at the Sioux City Convention Center in Iowa on October 1st. It will mark a return to the state for McDermott, who is a native of Cascade.

The dinner benefits 16 schools in the diocese's Catholic school system. Last year's event featured NBC Today personality Al Roker and raised $200,000.

McDermott has been coaching the Blue Jays for seven seasons. He has led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Creighton won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2013. Before arriving in Omaha, he served as the head coach at Iowa State.

McDermott led Northern Iowa to three straight NCAA Tournament trips from 2004-06. He also had tenures as the head coach at Wayne State and North Dakota State.
