College Football Hall of Famer Gene Stallings is one of the most legendary coaches in the history of the Southeastern Conference. His presence still looms large throughout the South and he is a favorite on the speaking circuit. 

On Friday, Stallings will serve as the keynote speaker at the FCA Breakfast of Champions banquet. The event will be held in Mississippi at Meridian Community College's Tommy Dulaney Center. 

Stallings will share some fun stories from his football career and lessons from life. Lamar football coach Mac Barnes will also be the recipient of the inaugural East Central Mississippi FCA Coach of the Year Award. 

After playing at Texas A&M for Bear Bryant, Stallings joined the coach's Alabama staff in 1958. He got his first head coaching opportunity back at his alma mater in 1965. 

In 1967, Stallings led the Aggies to a Southwest Conference title and win at the Cotton Bowl. He entered the NFL ranks as secondary coach with the Dallas Cowboys in 1972 and remained in that position for 14 years. 

Stallings also spent four seasons as the head coach of the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals. He made his greatest impact in the profession serving as the head coach at Alabama from 1990-96.

The Crimson Tide won the 1992 national championship and four SEC Western Division titles under Stallings watch. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Texas A&M Hall of Fame, Gator Bowl Hall of Fame and Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.
