Cleveland Browns Legend Ernie Green Speaks at High School Football Banquet

Cleveland Browns legend Ernie Green made a return to where it all began on January 20th. He spoke at his alma mater, Spencer High School.

Green was the speaker at Spencer's football banquet, which was held in the school's gymnasium at 7 p.m. In addition to speaking, he also became the first former Greenwaves player to have his jersey retired.

It was Green's first return to the school in 15 years. He was able to share success stories from his football and business career with members of the football team.

After attending Spencer, Green rushed for over 1,500 yards at the University of Louisville. He is a member of the Cardinals Ring of Honor.

Green went on to spend seven seasons with the Browns. He was initially teamed with legend Jim Brown in the backfield and they helped lead Cleveland to the 1964 NFL Championship.

When Brown retired, Green was named to the Pro Bowl in 1966 and 1967. He ran for 3,204 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns before retiring in 1968.

Following his football career, Green found success manufacturing various automotive parts. He founded Ernie Green Industries in 1981 and the company boasts 15 plants today.
