The Lansing State Journal Sports Awards is welcoming one of Michigan State's recent standouts to their next celebration. Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darqueze Dennard will be the guest speaker. 

The event takes place May 30th at a to-be-announced venue in East Lansing. It serves as an opportunity to honor local student-athletes for their achievements on and off the playing field. 

The red carpet will start at 7 p.m. and the official program begins at 8 p.m. Individual tickets are currently available for $32. 

Dennard was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection at Michigan State and a unanimous All-American in 2013. That year he also won the Jim Thorpe Award and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year trophy.

Dennard helped the Spartans cap his final season with a Rose Bowl win. MSU won two Big Ten championships during his career.

The Bengals selected him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He is currently Cincinnati's third corner and has set a career-high twice this season with ten combined tackles.
