Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany Speaks at the Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum

As one of the most powerful men in college sports, Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany's words carry weight with his peers. That respect certainly made him a welcome guest this week at the Learfield Intercolleigate Athletics Forum.

The forum was held Wednesday and Thursday in New York City at the Times Square Marriott Marquis. Delany spoke at 2 p.m. on Wednesday as part of a featured interview session.

Delany's presentation was titled, "The 10-Year Anniversary of the Big Ten Network, and More." Several other top administrators spoke throughout the two days, including Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott.

The growth of the Big Ten has been undeniable under Delany's tenure. He became the fifth commissioner of the conference in 1989 and has led with great vision.

Under his tenure, the Big Ten has added three schools and negotiated record-setting media rights deals. The advent of the Big Ten Network in 2007 was another milestone achievement for Delany.

Prior to arriving at the Big Ten, Delany was commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference. This past year, he was honored with the John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
