Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice Speaks at New York-Penn League All-Star Luncheon

The New York-Penn League have a distinguished guest from the baseball world as part of their All-Star festivities. Baseball Hall of Fame Jim Rice will speak at the All-Star Luncheon on August 14th. 

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Desmod Hotel and Conference Center in Colonie, New York. It is being held in conjunction with the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce. 

Tickets for the luncheon are $45 for chamber members and $60 for non-members. The New York-Penn League All-Star Game is being hosted by the Tri-City ValleyCats that night at 7:00 p.m. 

Rice played his entire 16-year career with the Boston Red Sox and was an eight-time American League All-Star. As a rookie, he finished third in AL MVP voting and helped the Red Sox reach the World Series. 

In 1978, Rice won the MVP after hitting.315 with 46 home runs and 139 RBI. He led the league in home runs three times and RBI twice. 

Rice was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and has his #14 jersey retired by the franchise.
