Winter Olympics Legend Apolo Ohno to Keynote The HFA Show

Skating Legend Brings His Message of Connection and Resilience to Premier Fitness Industry Event

Every year, the health club and fitness industry gather for The HFA Show (formerly IHRSA The Health & Fitness Association Show), bringing together owners, suppliers, operators, and business professionals to showcase the latest innovations in fitness equipment, technology, and business strategies. The event will take place March 16-18, 2026, in San Diego, featuring over 400 exhibitors and connecting 10,000 professionals for three days of expert presentations, education, and networking.

This year’s theme is “Stronger Together,” and they have invited one of the most decorated American Winter Olympians of all time, Apolo Ohno, to share his insights on how teams can stay connected and focused amid constant disruption with his “Human 2.0: Upgrading Mindsets for Connection in a Fast-Changing World” keynote.

With eight short-track medals in three Games (2002, 2006, 2010)—two golds, two silvers, and four bronzes—Ohno was a dominant force over nearly two decades. He began skating at 12 and advanced rapidly, overcoming early rebellious tendencies. His distinctive last-to-first racing strategy and appearance made him a recognizable competitor.

His career-defining moment came in the controversial 2002 Salt Lake City 1500 m final, where Australia’s Steven Bradbury won gold after a mass crash; Ohno, crossing the line on his knees, took silver and became an overnight sensation. He dominated the 2006 Torino Olympics and added three more medals in Vancouver before retiring at 27. Post-career, Ohno won “Dancing with the Stars” (season 4), authored the bestselling memoir “Zero Regrets” (2010), appeared on NBC as a commentator, competed on several reality shows, and became a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker.
