American Marathon Record Holder Deena Kastor Makes Appearances in Michigan This Week

Many racing enthusiasts are inspired by champion marathon runner Deena Kastor. She is bound to draw good crowds tomorrow when she makes a pair of appearances in Michigan. 

Kastor will talk about her Olympic experience with customers at Gazelle Sports locations in Birmingham and Northville. She will also participate in regularly scheduled community runs and share healthy lifestyle tips. 

The Moms on the Move Run will take place at 9:30 a.m. at Gazelle Sports Birmingham and the Urban Herd Run is at 6:30 p.m. at Gazelle Sports Northville. There are five store locations throughout the state that provide top of the line equipment for runners. 

Kastor currently holds the American records in the marathon, half-marathon and several road distances. In 2004, she won an Olympic bronze medal in the marathon. 

Kastor first broke onto the track and field scene at the University of Arkansas. She was a four-time Southeastern Conference champion and an eight-time All-American. 

Kastor won the 2003 Jesse Owens Award and has been named USATF Runner of the Year four times. She is an eight-time national cross country champion and has won two silver medals at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
