1990 Heisman Trophy Winner Ty Detmer Speaks at Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser March 28

1990 Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer is one of the most celebrated athletes in state of Utah history. He has also done significant work in the community and one of the organizations he has backed the most is Habitat for Humanity of Utah County. 

On March 28th, Detmer will keynote their seventh annual fundraising breakfast at the Adobe Corporate Campus. The free event is open to everyone and the suggested donation at the door is $25. 

Detmer will certainly give a first-hand account of the work Habitat does. He helped them complete nearly a dozen projects in Utah County shortly after they were founded in the early 1990s. 

During that time, Detmer was at the height of his popularity and coming off a four-year career as the starting quarterback at BYU. In addition to winning the Heisman, he was a two-time consensus All-American. 

Detmer also won the 1990 Maxwell Award and was a two-time Davey O'Brien Award winner. He finished his college career with 59 NCAA records. 

Detmer went on to have a 14-year career in the NFL. He played his last season in 2005 and has coached football on the high school and collegiate level.
